FAQ'S

What can I see on a heart scan?

A Heart Scan can detect signs of heart disease, coronary artery disease, signs of stroke, signs of aneurysms, hiatal hernia, calcium score and more.

What's the difference a MRI and a Computed Tomography body scan?

The main difference between a computed tomography scan like ours and an MRI scan is that the MRI scan cannot image the heart and the vessels around it. Since heart disease is the number one killer of all diseases, it is very important to have a scan that can see early signs of heart disease. Our scan can also see up to 500 different types of cancers. So early detection is the key with an advanced body scan. Advanced Body Scans computed tomography scans are considered the gold standard for imaging the heart. Since heart disease is the number one killer of all Americans, it makes sense to get this scan in lieu of an MRI. Cancer is the second leading cause of death after heart disease.

Other differences between an MRI and a Computed Tomography Scan are comfort and time. Our Advanced heart scan takes less than 5 minutes. There is no need to change clothes and there are no needles, no prep, and nothing covering your body. With MRI technology, your body is covered in electronics called "coils" These coils remain in place for the entire scan and can be somewhat cumbersome. They can hold heat causing many patients to overheat during scans. Counting the time it takes to attach the coils to your body, the entire process can take upwards of 45 minutes to 75 minutes for the entire MRI process. MRIs also produce an enormous amount of noise, up to 100 decibels, and can be very problematic for people who are subject to claustrophobia.

What can I expect during this scan?

Our simple non-surgical advanced scan requires no injections, no dyes, no fasting, or other preparations. This test has been designed with your comfort in mind. You will lie down on the table, you will go in feet first and the whole process take less than 5 minutes. Our Advanced Scanner will quickly and painlessly scan your heart and vessels around your heart looking for early signs of heart disease. It will take multiple helical images of your heart, and its vessels looking for the earliest signs of heart disease, cancer, and many other diseases.

Who should get a heart scan?

A Heart Computed Tomography Scan, also known as a CT Heart Scan, is a valuable tool for detecting potential health issues at an early stage. You should consider getting a heart CT scan if you have individual risk factors such as obesity, environmental exposures, and especially a family medical history of disease. The following individuals may benefit from a whole-body CT scan:

  • Heart Scan for Asymptomatic Individuals with Risk Factors: Individuals with a family history of heart disease may benefit from a heart CT scan. This non-invasive procedure can detect early signs of heart conditions, even in the absence of symptoms, offering a crucial head start in managing potential health issues.

  • Heart Scans for Smokers and Former Smokers: Both current and former smokers face an increased risk of heart disease. A heart CT scan can provide vital insights into the health of your heart and blood vessels, helping to identify issues like coronary artery disease early on.

  • Heart Scans for Those with High-Risk Occupational Exposure: Professions that expose individuals to factors increasing the risk of heart disease may warrant regular heart CT scans. This proactive approach can help in early detection and management of heart-related conditions.

  • Heart Scans for Individuals with Chronic Conditions: People living with chronic conditions, particularly those affecting the heart or circulatory system, can benefit from regular heart CT scans. These scans help in monitoring the heart's health and detecting any changes or complications early.

  • Heart Scans for Individuals with Known Health Conditions: If you have a history of heart issues, regular heart CT scans can be a key part of your health monitoring strategy. These scans help in tracking the progression of existing conditions and in the early detection of new issues.

  • Heart Scans for Middle-Aged and Older Adults: As the risk of heart disease increases with age, middle-aged and older adults may consider heart CT scans as a part of their preventive healthcare routine. These scans can detect signs of heart disease before symptoms develop.

  • Heart Scans for Individuals Considering Lifestyle Changes: If you're planning significant lifestyle changes for heart health improvement, a heart CT scan can provide a baseline assessment of your heart's condition. It's an effective way to track the benefits of your lifestyle adjustments over time.

  • Heart Scans for Athletes and Fitness Enthusiasts: Athletes and active individuals can use heart CT scans to assess their heart health, ensuring that their heart is fit to handle intense physical activities and to check for any sports-related heart conditions.

  • Heart Scans for Individuals with Unexplained Symptoms: If you're experiencing unexplained symptoms that could be related to heart health, such as fatigue or shortness of breath, a heart CT scan can help in diagnosing potential heart conditions.

  • Heart Scans for Those Seeking Peace of Mind: For those who want a comprehensive evaluation of their heart health, especially if there are concerns or a desire for reassurance, a heart CT scan can provide a detailed picture of your heart's health and function.

Is it painful?

No, It is a completely noninvasive scan. There are no needles, no dyes to drink, no fasting, and no medications to take. This test takes less than 5 minutes.

Will I get a consultation after my scan?

Yes, we have cardiologist, radiologist, and other MDs on staff that will go over your results and answer any questions you may have after the scan.

How long does it take?
